How to Check App Usage Time on Android

With the advent of smartphones and their increased usage, it has become essential for smartphone users to monitor and limit their screen time. And Android users now have the feature, where you can easily check how much time a user has spent on which app.

This feature is available on Android 9 and above devices. To check the app usage time, go to Settings > Digital Wellbeing & parental controls > View your usage. But this feature is not available on every Android phone.

If you use a Xiaomi phone, you will find it under Settings > Additional settings > Special privileges manager.

Here, you will see a list of apps along with their usage times. The listed apps are based on the time spent by you in them during a particular day.

You can also check out how much time you spend using each app throughout the day, week or month by tapping on Filters at the top right corner. This is located just beside the search icon in the app’s main screen.

How to limit app time on Android

To set a daily usage limit, do the following:

  1. Open the Settings app.
  2. Tap Digital Wellbeing & parental controls.
  3. Tap App timers.
  4. Select the app you want to set a usage limit for.
  5. Tap Set daily limit.
  6. Tap Limit and enter the amount of time you want to use the app per day.

Once your timer is up, the icon for that app will turn gray and won’t let you open it until your next day starts (at midnight).
