XAPK is a brand new file format standard for Android APK package file. It uses a compression algorithm that can reduce the size of the APK by up to 90%. Many Android users want to install XAPK app format on their Android device. This takes a few more steps than most apps. We’re going to show you how to find, download and install from your home screen.
What is XAPK?
XAPK is another package file format used on the Android operating system to install mobile applications and middleware. The XAPK installer will first decompress the APK file, find the code and resources it needs for installation, then recompress it into a new APK file.
This allows for faster and smaller downloads of APK files from websites or cloud services. It also allows for more reliable updates as only changed parts of the game are downloaded rather than the entire game again.
How to install XAPK on Android without PC?
1. Download XAPK Installer app from Google Play Store.
2. Open XAPK Installer, it will scan all your device’s memory for XAPK files. After you select the file, click on ‘Install‘ button at bottom.
3. It will ask you to install APKs and OBBs required by that game or app, Accept and continue installation.
4. Once the installation is complete, you’ll find the app icon on your phone desktop or in the app menu.
Most of the times, this should directly install the game on your phone. Even if it doesn’t work, you will be able to extract the OBB folder from these files that contains all the required data for running the games.
You can also use any other tools like Es File Explorer for extracting these files on your phone. To use them, go to “Open As” option in these apps and select XAPK option from there. That should make them open up and extract the OBB files from them.
Which is better XAPK or APK?
The answer is XAPK is much better than APK.
An Android application package file (APK) is the file format used to distribute and install application software and middleware onto Google’s Android operating system; very similar to an MSI package in Windows or a Deb package in Debian-based operating systems like Ubuntu. To make an APK file, a program for Android is first compiled, and then all of its parts are packaged into one container file. An APK file contains all of that program’s code (such as .dex files), resources, assets, certificates, and manifest file. As is the case with many file formats, APK files can have any name needed, provided that the file name ends in “.apk”.
But recently Google has started allowing users to download apps in a new format called XAPK which is more efficient than APK files because users do not need to download two or three parts when they download a large game or app. In addition to APK file, the XAPK also contains cache data of OBB file type. This OBB data will help to proceed game data faster.
For developers, there are two benefits to using XAPK files:
- You can split your Android APK into smaller parts and upload them as a bundle. It’s useful for apps that are larger than 100MB, which is Google Play’s limit for a regular APK file.
- You don’t need to compress your APK before uploading it — Google does this for you.
Can I delete the XAPK file after install?
Yes, you can. After the installation is completed, you will no longer need a XAPK file for installing the game. The game data will be stored in /Android/obb/<package_name>/ directory after installation.
